My work begins with affection for the craft of language and follows with fascination for the dark and twisted American South. Words are the medium of my art. The South is my muse.
Like the floss of dandelions, tales of the South are best sent floating on the winds of wild, until they find the perfect resting place, lingering to be picked up and admired.
Dark and unapologetically twisted, my books are fast-paced with the intention of creating intense emotional engagement—and are hopefully different than what you've read before. The setting is the broken and beautiful South. My characters are deeply flawed. But who isn't? They are human after all...so to speak.
My writing is inspired by the rugged South. Any season, sweltering or frigid, any era, the South remains my muse—its history, its landscape, its people. It is a joy to write about and sparks my curiosity and imagination doggedly. Any chance I get to write out in nature, I'm there. This photo was taken while writing on the boat with The Fisherman, my sounding board, my true love.

The Blog is not the same as the Newsletter, which is for subscribers only. The Blog can be found here.
Flash fiction is the short story, in complete form, anywhere from six to 1,000 words. For anyone who ever thought you couldn't tell a story in six words, think about these:
For sale. Baby shoes. Never worn.
Sad, huh?
Short stories can be found in the Flash Fiction category on the Blog page.
